A Cherokee Legend

March 25, 2009

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

”It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Truth & Integrity

March 16, 2009

I am shifting through a cold right now – it amazed me how much sleep I needed in order to just barely function over the last few days.  This extra sleep and need for slow time has allowed for some reflection upon where I find myself right now… it is important to realize that every choice, every decision I make is either supporting the development of my inner fire (my life force energy) or it is depleting it.

As human beings we cannot stay still – we are either moving forward or we are moving backward.  It becomes more important to ask myself  “does this choice support my inner fire or does it diminish the flames?”.  This is an interesting area to start self dialogue because choices will also depend on what kind of frame you are looking at them… For instance, having that piece of chocolate cake may make you feel satisfied and treated in the moment, but 1/2-hour later you may find yourself wanting another piece (because the good feelings have worn off) or you may be beating yourself up because you have wavered from your overall intent of healthy weight management.

So right now I find myself in a place of allowing myself to have the extra sleep required to give my body the strength to regain health… My overall vision is to allow my body to exist in vibrant health, at my ideal weight, fit and slim – by making choices based upon complete truth and operating with integrity I know that this is so.

Balance

March 13, 2009

The card I drew this morning was BALANCE!!

What a wonderful reflection of where I am at right now — I am realizing that I cannot achieve greatness if I do not look after what is most important in getting there… ME!!  From a physical, spiritual and mental aspect – it is crucial that all aspects of me receive the nurturing and care that is required.

When I am feeling out of balance it gives my inner saboteur a voice, I buy into ‘shoulds’ ‘have tos’ and ‘buts’… I find that there are a multitude of reasons not to care for my body – to eat sweet foods in an attempt to lift my spirits – to ignore my need for exercise and physical movement – and worst of all, get caught up by the whiny voice in my head that tells me I am not good enough and that I cannot expect success.

Yesterday I took responsibility for the self sabotage that was going on for me and awoke this morning feeling so much better, more connected with me.  My exercise routine felt so good – it felt like I was really contacting the body sensations and movements – almost like a meditation in motion.

Yes balance is good – it allows me to take responsibility for me and to choose how to react in my environment.

I would love to hear from you — what happens for you when you are out of balance?  What helps to get you back on track?

Happy Friday the 13th!!

I Believe!!

February 27, 2009

I seem to be going through a process recently of really challenging my own beliefs about
myself, about my purpose and how I am doing on my path. I seem to be attracting the
opportunity to sit and witness the energy that is generated when a person is so locked on their
own perception of the world that they forget to allow for another opinion or feeling.

I find myself quite put off by this energy – the evangelistic attitude which keeps challenging
what I think, how I think and feel and then minimizes (and even belittles) when my life
philosophy or opinion does not fit with what they are saying… I realize that is something I
need to come to terms within myself too.

I like to think that I am an easy going and supportive person who allows everyone to have
their own opinion, their own voice and their own version of reality… in fact I consciously work
on that. But occasionally I get into thinking or saying something like “you can’t do (say / be)
that!!” While I can tell myself that this is coming from a loving and supportive place – I realize
that I am falling into a trap of judgment, labeling and seeking to control someone elses’
reality.

I recognize that my disapproval or control seeking is actually an attempt to ignore or not take
ownership (and therefore responsibility) for a belief, judgment or thought which I have –
right or wrong.

What I have also noted of late is that the word ALLOW keeps coming up for me in and around
these experiences of challenge and introspection. I know that I am receiving the answer and
guidance I need when I need it – I just wanted to share this experience and see if there is
anything I have written here that strikes a cord for you.

In closing I would like to quote an affirmation I came across recently…

“I radiate and attract whatever I choose to accept. I now choose to accept the highest and
best in life. I now choose and receive the best health, success and happiness. I now choose
to accept lavish abundance for myself and all. This is a rich friendly Universe and I choose to
accept its riches and hospitality and enjoy them now!”

There is NO try!!

February 10, 2009

I just finished a session with a client where the topic of self care practices were discussed, dismissed and investigated!!

My client was telling me about all of the practices he had tried over the years – meditation, breathing exercises, journal writing, etc.  He recognized that all of these practices were of value but they just did not get him to where he wanted.

I guided him into looking at why he was just ‘trying’ — was he not worthy of a solid commitment – did he not feel passionate enough about some form of discipline to follow it through and adopt a stick-to-it attitude?

The truth is when we keep running from one habit or practice to another trying them rather than really doing them at that time – it does not really allow for the development of a real felt sense of what can be achieved and whether that discipline is right for us or not.

There are many methods and ways to drop into your own sense of self — your own sense of worth and in turn what it is you need to feel at peace and in joyful expression.  It is important to find what speaks to you at the level you need and be with it.

Rather than thinking that you need to conform to other’s definition of practices that allow deep self connection – it is time to feel your way into divine right practice for you.

As Yoda says — “Do or Do Not….there is NO try!”

Until next time!

Love,

Moira

There is no source of illness…

February 5, 2009

I love the Abraham-Hicks wisdom — the following quote really resonates with what I believe and the work I do with clients…

If there is no source of illness, why are there so many sick people?  It is because they have found lots of excuses to hold themselves in vibrational discord with wellness. They are not letting it in. And when they don’t let it in, the absence of it looks like sickness. And when enough of them do it you say, “Oh, there must be a source of sickness. In fact, let’s give it a label. Let’s call it cancer. Let’s call it AIDS. Let’s call it all kinds of terrible things, and let’s imply that it jumps into people’s experience.” And we say it never jumps into anybody’s experience. It’s just that people learn through trial and error, and — through banging around with each other — patterns of thought that don’t let it in.

The 12 Senses of the Ancients

January 31, 2009

Did you know the ancient Egyptians said that humans have 12 senses-not five?

All human beings have access to expanded awareness and subtle sensitivities, along with the standard five senses of 1) sight, 2) sound, 3) taste, 4) smell and 5) touch. Consider these additional seven senses and when you might use them in your life, at work, in personal relationships, and in your own growth and development.

6. Feeling
This is your gut instinct. Here you sense in your body what is going on around you. Through a signal like an energy boost or an energy sink you gain information about what is happening in regards to people, circumstances or events outside of you.

7. Telepathy
Unlike our idea of telegraphic thoughts being sent between people, telepathy is the transmission of emotions. You sense the emotional feelings of others; empathetically ‘knowing’ what someone else is feeling, hopefully as distinct from your own feelings. Telepathy also implies being able to transmit, evoke or send feelings to others.

8. Thought transference
This includes sensing the intentions of another. Of course, I ‘sense’ your intentions –even though your words say “let’s see what happens.” We all can sense intentions through impressions of thoughts and ideas, attitudes, beliefs, or assumptions that are transmitted behind the expressed words, behaviors, or interactions between people.

9. Clear sight
‘Seeing’ beyond the surface. Sometimes called ‘clairvoyance’ this is sensing subtle energy or vibration in the form of colors, images, pictures, symbols ¬including dreams, or visual impressions.

10. Intuition
Intuition allows us to sense patterns and purpose and awards us with insight and understanding. Because intuition transcends time and space we are able to sense future trends — i.e. prophecy or pre-cognition, and sense how current events or experiences are connected to past events — i.e. perceive the karma.

11. Spiritual discernment
This sense synthesizes the information from all the other 11 senses into a synergistic awareness of “the big picture” which is greater than the sum of the parts. This sense gives you the ability to know ‘truth’ without judgement or analysis (as is required in rational thinking) because you ‘perceive’ the ‘whole truth’ and perceive the path of destiny.

12. Realization
The truth is each of us is an expression of non-personal creative forces. Realizing our essential divinity, and how the Source is expressed through each of us, in all that exists is another distinct form of perception. This is similar to the Hindu concept of Self-realization.

Personally, I think there is a 13th sense – the sense of Humour — which puts all the other senses into perspective.  I think that humor is the sense that guides our ultimate purpose, to enjoy life, to laugh and giggle in glee, and to experience genuine, and ultimate happiness. Distinct from cynicism and sarcasm, happiness extends from a fullness of heart, expanding upon our sense of love, acceptance and compassion for ourselves and others.

Body Awareness

January 17, 2009

So many of us these days are completely out of touch with our bodies.  We do not eat healthfully, get enough sleep, relax and/or meditate, spend quality time with family and loved ones.  We sell our soul and sense of peace out in order to earn a buck, keep the bill collector from the front door and a roof over our heads.

It is becoming increasingly important to step out of the rat race and pay attention to what is important – your and your family’s health, emotional wellbeing and spiritual growth.  So many people work extremely hard so that they can enjoy life when they get there… you know – get out of debt, have a baby, find a significant other, get married, own a home, retire, etc., etc. – the fact is if you do not figure out that where you are now is it, the journey is the reward, this is how you are to learn your most valuable lessons; you will miss what your life has to offer.

One of the best and perhaps easiest ways to start bringing your focus back to where it matters is to concentrate on your physical body from head to toe.  If you can get back into communication with your own body, it will become so much easier to figure out what you body needs to ensure vital health.  This will then allow you to expand your awareness to your emotional and spiritual health.

Massage and bodywork serve to heighten relaxation as well as help you tune in more fully to your body with increased sensation and circulation.  Muscle tone improves and with certain types of bodywork you will start to feel an improvement in flexibility and range of motion.

The more you are able to let go of the stresses you experience in life, self inflicted and externally perceived, the more energy and time you will have to develop in the way that you really wanted to in the first place.  I believe that we all started out with a purpose in this life; it is just that our egos, environment and perceived social pressure allow that purpose to become occluded and oftentimes disappear completely.

The best way to re-connect with your soul purpose, your goal in this life is to raise your level of fitness, by this I am referring to your physical, emotional and spiritual bodies – real success and happiness can be realized when you are true to yourself.

Doing bodywork on yourself certainly does not beat going for a full session of therapy and I strongly recommend that you start scheduling yourself regular massage/bodywork sessions.  However, there are some exercises that really help with this concept of re-awakening your body awareness.

My favourite one is…

Lying flat on your back, in bed or on the floor – you are going to tense up and then relax each part of the body… starting with the lower body, contract all of the muscles of the legs and feet tight and hold for 5 seconds.  When you let go sense how your legs and feet feel, they might tingle a bit, they might feel heavy, and they might feel warm.  Do this same process with your abdominal and buttock area, then your shoulders and arms and finally your neck and facial muscles.

The other exercise that helps clear the mind and relax the body is deep belly breathing… as you breathe in, allow your belly to expand – hold your breath for a moment and then exhale completely as your belly flattens.  Doing this 5 – 10 times will enhance your own body awareness as well as allow you to manage your stress level.

My passion is to help you get on track on your journey to health wellness and wholeness; I hope that you’ve found a bit of inspiration in what I have written.

With Love,

Moira

2009 — Are You Ready For Transformation?

January 2, 2009

My good friend Vikki is a very gifted Numerologist — she wrote the following article which I wanted to share with you!

As our global village moves into 2009, we are beginning a new Universal year. For the first time in ninety-nine years, we will collectively experience the jarring force and strength of the transformative number 11.

The 11 is a Master number, and because it is the most difficult of all numbers, it brings the greatest potential for destruction or for growth. As a Master number, it draws on the energy of three different numbers. First of all, it draws potential, ambition, and a competitive spirit from the intellectual number 1. Second, it draws depth, sensitivity, and perception from the emotional number 2, which is its lower octave. Finally, there is the pure 11 energy, which can help all of us to develop a stronger connection with both our own subconscious and the collective superconscious.

This is the number of the visionary, the psychic, the inspired and enlightened philosopher, peacemaker, poet, musician, or inventor. It is the number of personal magnetism and charisma. It is also a number of instability, and astro-numerologists associate it with the planet Uranus, which is known to bring sudden, unexpected developments.

So what will this high-powered energy bring to us in the coming year?

2009 will be a transformative year of illumination and shifting priorities. Much light will be shed in very dark corners, and individuals or groups who have been motivated by greed and thirst for power, will be exposed, brought under severe scrutiny, and most likely suffer loss of power and position.

One of the first casualties will likely be Robert Mugabe, whose grasp of power is already tenuous. George W Bush is already set to step down, but under the harsh light of 11, we will see some very unsettling information about him and his presidency coming forward. This energetic influence could also shine its light into whatever dark and festering corner of the world Osama Bin Laden has been hiding in, thus leading to his capture and demise.

Also on the world stage, we will see the rise of charismatic leaders such as Barack Obama, who is now poised to take his place of authentic power. There will likely be one other charismatic leader rise to prominence this year, possibly in an adversarial position to Obama. It is to be hoped that all individuals and particularly all world leaders will cultivate diplomacy and communication skills in the weeks and months to come. The 11 can often bring about a clash of wills.

There have been some wild fluctuations in both the stock market and the weather, and this is also in keeping with the 11 energy.  It is a number of extremes. We are likely to see this continue for the better part of the year, and possibly show some signs of improvement in November, the eleventh month.

In the Tarot deck, the number 11 represents Justice. In recent years we have seen corrupt executives such as Conrad Black and several others whose lives and leadership have been inauthentic, brought to justice. This year there will be several more once “mighty” men and women, who will have to face the consequences of their lack of integrity.

Large corporations and conglomerates will be downsizing or dissolving completely, and the face of industry will change in favour of small locally owned businesses. This is in keeping with the move toward greater independence and self-reliance. Since  the overall energy of this millennium is the conciliatory 2, this  self-reliance can bring about healthy interdependence for groups and individuals who hold high intentions and choose to remain in integrity.

The Master number 11 brings about heightened understanding and powers of perception; and that means that we will all be highly sensitive to the energy of our environment. We will all need to be extremely careful about whom we associate with, how and where we spend our time, and what we allow into our consciousness this year. Individuals who have strong 11 energy in their personal numerology profile, or who are currently in an 11 personal year, will be particularly vulnerable to negative energies. On the bright side, they will also be particularly receptive to positive, uplifting energetic influences.

Finally, the number 11 brings about heightened and accelerated powers of manifestation. “The Secret” is no secret, and we’re all aware of the role we play in creating our personal reality. Take a moment right now to look around you. All that you see is what you have created. Now, consider that this year, 2009, will bring you even greater opportunities to manifest whatever it is that occupies your mind and heart.

This will not be an easy year, and we will all face tense situations. Rise to the challenge! Do not resist the power of 11, embrace it!

Stay in integrity, because this year of all years, those who remain in integrity will prevail. Avoid gloom and doom. Stay out of worry and fear. Seek ways to serve others in a spirit of love and compassion. Send positive thoughts and heartfelt prayers and affirmations to any and all troubling situations in your personal life and in the life of our global village. Visualize desired outcomes and believe yourself worthy to receive and achieve all that you desire in 2009!

Honour Thy Body

December 29, 2008

Time and time again I am reminded by the wisdom of my body… both when I am working with clients and when I am working through my own ‘stuff’.

No matter how hard you might try and change the body you were born with – the fact of the matter is that you were born with one body in this lifetime… it might be tall, short, fat, thin, large, toned or flabby.  Whatever shape, colour or size – you only get one!  It’s yours forever (for the duration of this lifetime!), so accept and embrace it and most importantly – honour it!

You see, this precious vehicle we refer to as our body is the expression of your soul and allows your soul to get from place to place, experience to experience here on this physical plane.

There has been much research done which shows that most people are less that satisfied with the body they were born with.  Some people spend their entire lifetime trying to perfect it with exercise and a good healthy lifestyle; while others opt to surgically change it.  If only we could see through the eyes of the Divine — how perfect we are, we would know and recognize our own body for what it is – a wondrous temple, a sacred vessel for the soul.

As a Wellness Practitioner it is important to me to look after the physical body with good nutrition, regular exercise as well as meditation and connection to the Divine.  Having said this – it is equally important to provide tools, education and support to allow the development of your connection with your own inner wisdom.

I came across the following quote recently which I would like to share in closing “The same materials that makes up the universe is inside you.  You need not look beyond your own body for Heaven for, in a sense, it’s a state of being and not necessary a location somewhere out in the cosmos”.

Honour and take care of your temple and welcome to Heaven!

Namaste,

Moira
