Here are some great ways to get, be and keep a positive attitude and what it can do for you in your life and future:
- Accept yourself and share with others thoughts and actions, based upon deep inner peace and tranquility, self-confidence and a positive attitude – see the day and future change right before your eyes.
- Avoid all forms of negative judgmental self critique, back talk, self- chatter that is self-defeating (often called our inner critic).
- Communication and the ability to express what you want is paramount. If you are coming from a place of positivity (not sure if that’s a word – but you get what I mean!) you’ll be best served by conveying confidence and a sense of purpose.
- Stay in the present and enjoy each moment. Don’t carry burdens from the past, reconcile and ask (or give) forgiveness, release and grudges or regrets.
- Banning negativity from your life will have far-reaching effects and impact on your health and even longevity. You are one functioning whole and letting go of anything that no longer serves you is the only way to embrace what is to come.
- Do a favor for someone, pay it forward, run and errand for someone, volunteer or entertain an elderly person by reading their favorite book or poetry, serve your community or join a special interest group working with teens, troubled youngsters, food-bank etc.
- Find your inner self and reflect more on your peace, contribution and sharing that you have to give.
- Think of yourself as achieving something great in life – having purpose and meaning, direction to your life and existence.
- Expect the best from and for yourself. Learn from both success and failure to succeed, which is just another way of learning more, new things, even if only what not to do (again). Keep the hope alive.
“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.” ~ Carl Gustav Jung

These are wonderful tip to get your life moving toward the present! I like see yourself achieving! Going to use this one
Thanks Elizabeth! I’m glad you liked these tips ;).
Banning negativity from your life is the one for me. Often, that means removing or distancing from some people in your everyday life. I can still like or love them from afar BUT I also need to surround myself by people that build, lift up, motivate & encourage. Until they make changes, that is the way it needs to be… 🙂
Yes getting that negativity out can sometimes be a wee bit of a challenge – but it’s so worth it when we surround ourselves with people who lift us up!
Thank you, Moira for these helpful tips. I like “Stay in the present and enjoy each moment.” It’s a wonderful reminder! Bless you!
Thanks Alexandra – I’m glad you liked these tips! Blessings to you also 🙂
Very good tips – enjoyed them all and try and practice them.
Glad you liked them Barbara!
These are great tips, Moira! I want to remember to do more of the paying it forward. There have been a few times I actually paid for the person behind me (once at a toll booth)–such a good feeling!
I love that Meryl! I have paid for coffee for the person behind me – it is a wonderful feeling!
Great tips for success and a positive attitude is so important. I especially like “find your inner self” and helping others”
Thanks Anita! Yes – when you can find your inner self – there is a lot of struggle that tends to disappear 🙂
Many of my friends who are down I will tell them to do something nice for someone else every day, and it turns them around faster than anything else. Great that you included it.
Thanks Aimee – yes doing things for others has such a wonderful all round benefit!
Your tips are all great. I love – Stay in the present, as that helps to let go of regrets and worrying about the future. Success happens when we remain positive and don’t give up. Thanks!
Thanks Cathy – I believe that the more we can keep ourselves in the present moment the better everything seems 🙂
I think keeping an appropriate sense of humor about myself is also helpful in maintaining a positive attitude. Most of what worries me isn’t really that serious…
That’s one of my favorites too Lorrie – I think we can all tend to take life (and ourselves) a wee bit too seriously at times!
I try hard not to take myself too seriously…today I sewed my table cloth to a customer’s quilt…I had to laugh at myself and move on : D.
lol Elizabeth! I hope you had not gone too far before you realized your tablecloth was part of a quilt ;).
Learning to laugh at myself, without being “hateful” has been a step that makes life much more bearable and, dare I say it, fun!
Yes MamaRed – it’s important to laugh at yourself in a loving way – this is not to bring in derision or fault finding … like you say – it can help make things fun!
accepting yourself and where you’re at is indeed key to change 🙂
That’s so true Catherine ;).
Right on, Moira! Accepting yourself and eliminating all forms of negative self talk is so key! Wonderful tips and pointers for achieving a positive attitude!
Thanks Sherie! I agree — making friends with your inner dialogue is essential.
Love these tips!! Learning to love myself again has been quite a journey! 🙂
Thanks Carl – it’s a powerful journey for many of us!
“Don’t carry burdens from the past, reconcile and ask (or give) forgiveness, release and grudges or regrets.” Good advice that many people do not follow. You can recognize them by the dour expressions on their faces.
Thanks Susan! It’s true that one of the most powerful things we can do is forgive… others AND ourselves.
I love these tips, Moira.Having a positive attitude is a must to be free of worry and stress!
Yes attitude is certainly the key to relieving stress! Thanks Lisa
What a great list, Moria! I especially try for “stay in the moment” – some days it is very difficult, but when I do, all settles into place.
Thanks Lisa! Isn’t it amazing to see how much control we actually DO have when we stay in the present moment?
Moira, I’m always amazed at how much negative self talk I hear from people who are struggling. And somehow they don’t recognize the impact of that pattern …
I agree Sharon… I am amazed at how many people do not even realize the amount of negativity they engage in! My mission is to raise that awareness for as many people I can ;).
I love all your tips Moira! For me the one that hits home most is to accept yourself. It’s something I’ve always struggled with, and see so many others struggling with too.
